A popular Sullivan County festival is back after being on a three year hiatus. As YNN’s Venise Toussaint tells us, preparations are underway and many people are excited.

BETHEL, N.Y. -- More than 400 people are expected to fill the Catskill Distillery on Saturday for the Day to be Gay Festival.

“We're so excited, we have such a fantastic gay community here and they have brought so much to the area,” said Catskill Distilling Company co-owner, Stacey Cohen.

The annual festival has been hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance for about eight years but as it began to grow, the group ran into difficulties organizing it. The event has been on hiatus for the past three years but a new board has brought it back, and it's expected to be better than ever.

“It’s an important way of our community getting together along with friends of our community to be with us,” said Gay and Lesbian Alliance President, James Lomax.

The event will be filled with food, local musicians, raffles, and crafts.

“About 27 vendors, some really expert crafts people here, there is going to be a full music program from on stage behind us,” Lomax said.

“We’re always working very hard, we want to be prepared, our entertainment is great,” said Cohen.

And while fun is the main focus, the festival is also about giving back to the community.

“Giving a large part of our monies that we make to local food banks because they’re so desperate for any kind of funding these days, we also support local arts organizations,” said Lomax.

Admission is free for children and $10 for adults. The event will be held at the Catskill Distillery from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
