SCOTIA, N.Y. -- The Animal Protective Foundation in Scotia holds a special promotion on Saturday in an effort to find homes for animals due to the facility being at capacity from the recent hoarding cases. People who came out to Saturday's Pick Your Price promotion could name their own price for cats that are 1 and older.
Those interested in kittens got the deal of $50 each, or two for $75. Dog adoption fees remained the same. The shelter is currently caring for 150 animals in total, and trying to clear out space so they can take in more.
"We've had an awful lot of cats coming in, not only from our owner surrenders and strays, but a hoarding case that's ongoing, and we're trying to free up more space to take in more of those cats, and a big influx of dogs in another case," said Marguerite Pearson, APF Director of Communications.
The shelter is asking people who are looking to surrender animals to wait until they have more room.
