TROY, N.Y. -- Troy police are investigating two suspicious fires from over the weekend.

The first call came in at 1 a.m. Sunday on 118th Street. Not long after, a second fire was reported on 9th Street.

Troy's fire chief said three people were rescued from the 9th Street fire. They were taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The chief said firefighters ran into problems on 118th when the gas meters melted and the fire was being fed by natural gas.

He said the two fires are not connected, but both are considered suspicious.

Troy Fire Chief Tom Garrett said, "We did bring in the Office of Fire Prevention and Control to assist us at both locations, and the dog indicated there were accelerants used at both locations. Right now we're very concerned about the number of fires. This is the fourth fire since Friday afternoon."

Chief Garrett said several different neighboring fire departments had to be called in to help fight the flames. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
