NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- SUNY New Paltz welcomed over 1,000 first year students to the college for their annual move-in day.
College officials say the freshman class is academically strong, ethnically and geographically diverse and represent a wide variety of interests. It’s the 23rd consecutive year the school had the most applications for admission among SUNY’s comprehensive colleges.
Students say they’re looking forward to taking college courses, meeting new friends and making the most of their college experience.
“I’m excited. I can't wait to meet my dorm mates. I haven't met them yet. I'm a little nervous too,” Tyler Carter said.
Maggie Easton said, “I'm looking forward to the classes and getting to know new people.”
The class of 2016 will attend the 26th annual Fall Convocation at the Athletic and Wellness Center on Friday where they will be introduced to the academic community and New Paltz faculty. Classes begin next Monday.
