A man arrested right here in the Capital Region leads State Police to what they are calling a plot to kill pop star Justin Bieber. As YNN's Erin Vannella reports, the murder-for-hire case started in New Mexico, went north to Vermont and for one man, ended in Rotterdam.

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- "My reaction to that?" asked Oswego resident John Miskovic. "You can't plot to kill anyone, that's not right. I don't have a personal opinion on Justin Bieber, though I'm sure if I asked one of my four daughters, they would. They probably would have a problem with that."

Back in November at the Rotterdam Pilot station, State Police found and arrested Tanner Ruane, 23. Now we learn weapons, identification for intended murder victims in Vermont and a sketch of Justin Bieber were inside. It's evidence, police say, of a murder-for-hire scheme that started in New Mexico.

"Kind of odd and kind of scary that he was found here," said Clifton Park resident Karen Yager. "I mean, I stop here multiple times a week."

"I guess it kind of makes me wonder how'd he get caught plotting to do away with Justin Bieber," said Miskovic.

Turns out, police say, Ruane was by recruited his uncle, Mark Staake, 41, to knock off people on the Vermont list. That list was generated by the man who hired Staake, a convicted rapist and murderer named Dana Martin. Martin was obsessed with Bieber and wanted his hit men to kill him at a concert in New York City after the Vermont job. But Staake got caught in Vermont violating felony probation. And then, foiling his own plans, Martin turned police on Ruane, who was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Bieber fans and otherwise say that's justice.

"I don't listen to his music, but that's kind of odd," said Yager.

"I get annoyed listening to Justin Bieber in my house, so I have some sympathy, but I can't say I agree with it," said Miskovic.
