One woman is dead after an early morning incident in Rensselaer County and already, police may be zeroing in on the person they think did it. YNN's Beth Croughan has more from outside town court in Schodack.
SCHODACK, N.Y. -- NYSP Captain William Keeler said, "About 4:30, Rensselaer County Public Safety received a 911 emergency call regarding a domestic dispute at number 20 Bri Lan Avenue."
State Troopers called to the Schodack home early Sunday morning and their presence was still there later that day. Police tape was strung across the front lawn as they investigate the death of real estate agent Nikki Hart, 33.
"Troopers arrived at the scene to find a 33-year-old homicide victim,” Keeler said. “She had been stabbed in the neck."
Soon after, they identified 29-year-old Jason Guynup as a suspect. They say he was Hart's estranged boyfriend, who shares the same address. And a witness, authorities say, was at the scene.
"Has police or the District Attorney's office been involved with this couple before?" our reporter asked.
Rensselaer County District Attorney Richard McNally replied, "There has not been anything immediately in the immediate past. There has been some most recent family court activity with the couple and their children."
It was about a half hour after the original 911 call when a person living on Hays Road in East Greenbush reported a car crash there.
Keeler said, "They gave a description of his vehicle and that's the vehicle that was involved in the crash and Jason Guynup was the suspect that was picked up on 9J in Rensselaer."
