He's been a morning staple in radio for years and now, listeners in the lower Hudson Valley can tune in to hear Bob Wolf in the mornings. Vince Gallagher has more.

WOODSTOCK, N.Y. -- "Radio Woodstock 100.1, that's REM with ‘End of the World,’ The Police with ‘Can't Stand Losing You’ and we started out with the new one from Charlie White."

You may recognize the voice and perhaps the face. It's Bob Wolf from the "Waking Up With the Wolf" show, here during his first day on the air at Woodstock Radio.

"It's good to get out of my bathrobe,” Wolf said. “Sitting on the couch playing online poker can only go so far."

Wolf was a morning show host at WPDH in Poughkeepsie before moving to Albany in 1997 to start the "Waking Up With the Wolf" show on WPYX, also known as "Pyx 106." After that show was canceled in February of last year, he then turned to Radio Woodstock.

Wolf said, "I wanted to go back and do a jock shift ‘cause I had a lot of fun doing that."

Not only does Wolf enjoy the format at Radio Woodstock, he's also interested in doing something which he says many stations don’t do these days: Connect with the local listener.

"It's very important for me that a local radio station be able to give back and connect and do a lot of things with the community, not just charity or fundraising, but actually be there when the community needs them," Wolf said.

With this changing of air shifts, program director Jimmy Buff will now also be covering middays.

"It's a shuffling of talent for us. What we're excited about with Bob joining the staff is that we have a proven communicator joining us,” Buff said.

Wolf has also commented on the state of radio today and how it's important to be able to broadcast to your own backyard.

Wolf said, “Their sense of community is right in line of what mine is and I think radio has to be a part of where you are and you lose that when you get into syndicated programming."

And even though he's been up and down the dial for years, Monday at Radio Woodstock, it's another first day on the job.

"You get through it and you get more comfortable,” Wolf said. “The more comfortable I am with the technical stuff, the more I'll be able to get into myself I'm just really excited to be back in radio."

And you can to hear this new member of the broadcast community. "Waking Up the Wolf" airs weekday mornings on Radio Woodstock, 100.1 FM. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
