LATHAM, N.Y. -- With severe storms come risk of power outages. Utility companies including National Grid say all hands are on deck for this storm.

The company is increasing staffing to make sure all impacted areas have the support needed to address any issues that arise. Officials said they're also making sure crew locations are fully stocked with equipment needed to repair service.

National Grid Spokesman Patrick Stella said preparation is key in getting through storms like this.

He said, "We prepare year round for these kind of events. The last few days we've been watching the weather forecasts and amassing crews and getting ready for what could be a big event for us. We don't know at this point depending on the snow fall totals and the wind, but we do expect to see some scattered power outages throughout the area and we have the crews ready to respond."

The company said in addition to its outage website, customers can report outages and get information in a number of ways including social media, e-mail alerts, text messages, and the outage reporting hotline.
