Don't look now, but there's a positive vibe coming out of the troubled City of Newburgh. As our Christian Farrell reports, it all centers around the simple question of why do you love Newburgh?

NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- It's a city that some might say has a bad reputation. Although there are others who'll tell you Newburgh has got a lot going for it, specifically, those with the Greater Newburgh Partnership.

"In response to some of the negative stories about the city, we've decided to focus on all of the positive things," said Sue Sullivan of the Greater Newburgh Partnership.

"Love Newburgh" is the non-profit organization's latest pro-Newburgh campaign.
Local residents are being asked to share their positive stories about living and working in the historic city along the Hudson.

"The city's alright," one person said.

Sullivan said, "You know, being positive doesn't happen by accident. It's easy to complain, but there's something very empowering about doing something positive to move forward."

Residents are being asked to either submit a video or photographs with a testimonial, answering the simple question: Why do you love Newburgh?

"If you love Newburgh, it's in your heart and we want people to share that," said Sullivan.

Now the waterfront and the fine dining along the Hudson River might be an obvious answer to an outsider as to why someone loves the City of Newburgh, but the residents of the city certainly have their own reasons.

"It's a beautiful historic area," one person said.

Another person said, "The people."

"There's a lot of experienced, influential people here in the City of Newburgh," another person said.

One person mentioned a favorite eatery, saying, "Pete's Hot Dogs over on South Williams."

"It's the place that I love because I was born and raised here all my life," said another.

Submissions are to be sent to the Chosen winners will receive a new iPad. All you have to do is express your love for Newburgh.

"I love the town the best. But I love the city too," said another. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
