POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- There's a plethora of plays and musicals based and performed on Broadway, but not so much in Poughkeepsie -- until now.
Poughkeepsie's Half Moon professional theater is set to offer audiences nine, ten minute plays, all with a local theme.
Nine nationally recognized playwrights with personal ties to the area created storylines around Adams Fairacre Farms, the Walkway Over the Hudson, the Galleria, the Poughkeepsie Journal, and more.
"It brings this emotion and story that you get to really connect to because it's set in places that we're so familiar with,” said actor Bradley Levine.
“Even if you're not a regular theatergoer, this kind of an event is a fun way to get exposure to theatre. All the plays are only ten minutes. So, if you don't like one, you might like the next one. There's drama, comedy, all different styles of writing,” said Half Moon Theatre Managing Director, Kristy Grimes.
Tickets cost $15 and performances will kick off this coming weekend at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Reservations are encouraged.
