ALBANY, N.Y. -- Schenectady County Community College is coming to Albany as part of a partnership between the school and Albany County.

The new deal will allow students at SCCC to take classes in Albany. The new classrooms are being built on the second floor of the county office building. It will hold 10,000 square feet of classroom space.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said it is all about providing more access to education.

"What I wanted to do was offer these, an opportunity to residents of the city of Albany and the county of Albany an opportunity to come to downtown Albany, take classes here, but make it convienient," said McCoy.

McCoy says this partnership will also give a boost to the surrounding businesses downtown.
The project is expected to be complete by January.
