A two car crash in the Town of Wawayanda on I-84 claims one life as police are still looking for a car involved in the accident that they say left the scene. YNN's Eva McKend reports.

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police don't yet know the cause of a two car crash that killed one person and injured a child on Friday afternoon.

"We're investigating a two car motor vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 84 in the Town of Wawayanda eastbound," said Michael Drake, BCI Lieutenant of Middletown's State Police Troop F.

Police say it looks like one car forced another into the median and are now looking for the other car involved. It's blue, midsized and police say it left the accident scene.

"The vehicle involved that fled the scene has damage to the front driver's side portion of the vehicle," said Drake.

Police are urging the public to call them with any leads.

"It's extremely important that the public reach out to us at the Middletown barracks number. We're looking for anyone that would have been in the vicinity or see anything. The public's help is usually what solves most of these incidences," said Drake. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
